10 cent apps for 10 days to celebrate 10 billion Android Market downloads


Google has announced that the Android Market has reached 10 billion downloads. Moreover, the company announced that its growth rate has reached one billion downloads per month. Better yet, they have a gift for Android users.

For the next 10 days, a slew of Android apps will be 10 cents in the Android Market. These apps will vary from day to day, so check them daily.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, the first day of the promotion, the apps available for 10 cents were:

  • Asphalt 6 HD
  • Color & Draw for Kid
  • Endomondo Sports Tracker Pro
  • Fieldrunners HD
  • Great Little War Game
  • Minecraft
  • Paper Camera
  • Sketchbook Mobile
  • Soundhound Infinity
  • Swiftkey X

The Android Market launched on Oct. 22, 2008. It hit 1 billion downloads in July 2010. Earlier this year, in July, it passed the 6 billion download mark.

Meanwhile, things wouldn't be complete without a comparison to the App Store. App Store opened on July 10, 2008. It his 10 billion downloads in January 2011 of this year.
