Samsung's First Smartphone With Curved Screen To Be Introduced In October

Galaxy Note 3 has only gone on sale today, and Samsung is already planning on increasing the competition in the smartphone market by introducing an entirely new device next month.

Long rumoured to be coming from a variety of OEMs, Samsung said on Tuesday (via Reuters) -- so this is not a rumour -- that it would introduce a smartphone with a curved screen in October.

At an event launching the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, D.J. Lee, Samsung's mobile business head of strategic marketing said:

We plan to introduce a smartphone with a curved display in South Korea in October.

It is unclear if the glass will simply be curved, or if the screen will flexible and bendable.
