Droid X Gingerbread roll-out

The Droid X is getting its taste of Gingerbread (Android 2.3), on schedule. Earlier, it was stated by Motorola that manual updates (by checking for an update within Settings) would begin on June 1, and they did, right on schedule.
The Android 2.3 update was first delivered to a limited number of users on Friday, May 27. While not explicitly saying so, the “soak test” OTA was obviously meant to prevent any FUBARs with unexpected errors in the OTA.
To manually check for it on your handset by navigating through the OS to Settings, About Phone, then System Updates.
Gingerbread provides better battery life, faster speed, updated UI, improved cut-and-paste, and more.
Interestingly, the younger brother to the Droid X, the just launched Droid X2, was shipped with Android 2.2.
